The Graduates of La Cambre 14
Summer’s here, and so are the fashion academies’ graduation shows. Brussels-based La Cambre kicked of the season this weekend at Les Halles with a whirlwind of a show, demonstrating what sixty students have been up to this year. Four of them just finished their fifth and final year and delivered some very interesting pieces.
Anouk Fallon played with covering and uncovering the body. Her collection was very glamorous, but edgy at the same time: clean cuts and interesting shapes combined with flowy dresses and palazzo pants. Many of the silhouettes could easily be transported to the red carpet. The choice of colours and patterns – shades of sea and sun topped with tropical flowers – gave this collection a very summery feel.
Eddy Anemian, who also won the H&M Design Award just a few months ago, gave a contemporary twist to classic pieces like bulky overcoats, a bermuda pantsuit or deconstructed skirts and dresses. Straights cuts were subdued with soft colours and sweet flower patterns
Sophisticated streetstyle is what Louis-Gabriel Nouchi brought to the scene. An amalgam of black and white topped with spats of vibrant colours. The silhouettes had some sort of karate-meets-boxing vibe to them, as kimono shaped coats were interspersed by big hooded shirts.
