Rocca dei Vasi

Ceramics collection Rocca dei Vasi bij Martinelli Venezia is the result of a mass production system combined with manual manufacturing.

Caltagirone is a Sicilian town that used to prosper from their century old tradition of terracotta but has been suffering impoverishment due to the economical crisis. Martinelli Venezia bring tribute to the craftsmanship developing a terracotta collection, together with local designer Andrea Branciforti, that brings the world of mass production and handicraft together.

Rocca dei Vasi is a family of ceramic containers composed of two halves. The lower parts are  classic vases made with the mould, standardized. The top parts are overlapped forms made using the turning lathe, always different because they are manually crafted and designed differently each piece in unusual iconographies.
